STOP THE BLEED® Licensing Program
Organizations and individuals must have a STOP THE BLEED® license to offer STOP THE BLEED® training classes.
It Started With Soldiers. Now It’s Your Turn to Teach.
Soldiers were taught to stop life-threatening bleeding, and they used those skills to save lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. They brought that knowledge home, and now it belongs to everyone. It reaches the public one class at a time, through people like you.
The next person to save a life may be a student in your class, a coworker, a coach, or a neighbor. None of them will be ready unless someone teaches them first.
For individuals. If you’re a paramedic, nurse, police officer, lifeguard, CPR instructor, teacher, or one of the many other qualifying professionals, you already have the foundation. An Instructor License lets you pass it on.
For organizations. Schools, businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies can bring STOP THE BLEED® training to the people they serve. An Educational License makes your organization part of the network preparing communities to act.
Both licenses are free, and licensees receive approved course materials and instructor resources at no cost.
Licensing for instructors
To be eligible for a license, an individual must have at least one of the professional credentials listed below and meet several other requirements.

- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
- Dentist (DMD/DDS)

- Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM)
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)

- Non-Clinical Injury Prevention Coordinator

The program has contracted with the Stop the Bleed Coalition and the American College of Surgeons to issue STOP THE BLEED® Instructor Licenses. In addition to holding one of the professional credentials listed above, individuals must have taken a STOP THE BLEED® class. The Stop the Bleed Coalition and the American College of Surgeons may have additional eligibility requirements.
Individuals holding a STOP THE BLEED® Instructor License must comply fully with the license issued to them. No modifications of the course curriculum are permitted unless specifically approved in writing by the organization that issued the license.
The program requires that individuals hold a STOP THE BLEED® Instructor License from either the Stop the Bleed Coalition or the American College of Surgeons. Individuals can seek an Instructor License from both organizations in order to have access to the full set of instructor resources.
Licensing for organizations
