Classes are taught on equipment built for practice, never on the real thing. A tourniquet that has been put on fifty times in a classroom is not one you want hanging on a wall. There are four kinds of approved training equipment.
Works and feels the same as a real tourniquet and is built to survive hundreds of uses. The color is deliberately different, usually blue or orange, so no one grabs it by mistake in an emergency. Labeled for training only.
Rubber arms, legs, and torso blocks with a realistic wound, so students learn what a properly packed wound feels like under their hands. Some pump fake blood, which tells you right away whether you are pressing hard enough.
Reusable or cheap gauze and fake blood made to work with the trainers. Clearly labeled as non-sterile and not for use on a person.
Full-body and partial dummies for practice scenarios, where students have to find the bleeding themselves and decide what to do, instead of drilling one skill at a time.
Where to buy training equipment
Training equipment is licensed separately from kits. The companies below are licensed by the Department of War to sell approved classroom equipment, held to the same standard as everything else carrying the name.
